Hi There

Many thanks for visiting my website of my memories of growing up in Attercliffe, Sheffield in the 70s. I was born here in 1968 spent most of my miss spent youth around the streets, old houses and scrap yards. As well as hours and hours walking the length of the canal. I have recorded a lot of memories on a YouTube project which can be found on the 'My Links' page as well as the other sites containing photos of the area taken on my visits back.

Also on here I have written various bits of history on Attercliffe as well as the canal that runs through it on its five mile stretch. With plans in the future to add more history too.

This project all started in 1992 on a visit back home to my parents now living in Barnsley. After visiting Meadowhall Shopping Centre. I got the Supertram through to Sheffield town and was amazed to see that the actual tramlines ran through the middle of where our house used to stand on Chippingham St. Leaving the canal bank and small basin intact. It was as if I was still stood in my garden overlooking the wall. Moved as I was I took a series of pictures of Attercliffe and went back home happy.

After having them developed I decided to record what was in the image and my memories of what was once there or how it was. I typed all this up into what became a small book. But never took it any further. Until one day I came across YouTube and thought it would be fun to record a couple of videos describing each photo. This took off so I kept it going to the end of the pho sets (about 57 videos in total)

Since then I have taken more photos loaded to flickr, with recently creating an Attercliffe Photo Group too. For anybody to upload their own pictures of the area.

I love keeping the area and my memories alive and have enjoyed posting on the exc websites www.sheffieldforum.co.uk and www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk  too. Had a couple of pieces featured on the BBC as well as the local papers. The links are below....
